Since I still don't have a new sewing machine yet, me and Kayla have been enjoying our time with the garden. I guess it's fitting since the weather is gorgeous right now! We've had romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and strawberries for quite a while, and had slowly added some flowers over the last couple weeks. This week I found aphids on my lettuce so I quickly added some chives and marigolds near the lettuce, and today I buried some banana peels at the base of all of them, and of course picked off the affected leaves. I've got a spray bottle with water and a squirt of soap ready and waiting, but I'm holding off on using it, hoping that the chives and banana peels will do the trick. On the bright side the butter crunch lettuce hasn't been attached by the aphids, yet. Oh, and Kaylas little petunia flower even grew another flower!
The orange/pink flower on the left is my favorite!
I've also been getting into soap again, I've been looking for new shampoo ever since Clorox bought Burt's Bees. I know, that was a few years ago, but I hadn't been able to find the right shampoo, and I've tried everything I could find with the right ingredients (which was not very many)! I kept going back and buying a bottle or two of Burt's Bees here and there in between all the others.
Then, I found shampoo bars! I bought my first one from a lady at a craft fair and have been trying to find her contact info forever, I can't figure out what the heck I did with it! Since then I've bought a couple from etsy, and I've been making do with certain conditioners, I finally ran out the other day and used one of those little conditioners that came with my hair dye. That was a bad choice, haha... my hair was terrible. It felt smooth, but I quickly realized my hair was just completely coated in yucky.
It's been a while, but I quickly whipped up a batch of cocoa butter, I split it in half and first made some really thick, almost pure cocoa butter, whipped cocoa butter. I added a lot of oil to the second half, I'm not sure if I got the consistency right, but the plan is to replace my old conditioner so I'll find out in the morning! It has to be better then that store bought crap, so I'm sure it will go well. Right...
