Bedroom Colours

Lately, I've been thinking a whole lot about painting Kayla's room. At the moment her room is a medium pink and I've been meaning to paint at least one wall of her room ever since she got her big girl bed with her new duvet cover... Let's just say it's been a few months. Preferably I only want to paint the one wall since that would be the simplest, easiest, and quickest! I've been thinking a LOT about what to paint and the main thing I do know that I don't want to paint anything darker! Since I wanted to keep it lighter, I somehow thought about painting "the" wall in a pale yellow (although I like all colours, yellow is not one of my favorites). Something about a girly pink and pale yellow just seems really appealing and girly to me. The only person who seems to agree with me is Paul, who loves BRIGHT yellow... but take a look at this photo, how adorable is this room??

Since Paul seems to be the only person in the WHOLE world who enjoys my choice of pink and yellow, and since I was also wondering about how she would grow into it, if it would get to baby-ish really fast, I've been looking at some other colours as well. I've always known that green is my colour, but I realized how much I am always drawn to green while looking through all the paint chips! I happen to like my greens on the yellow side, and I like my blues on the green side. Most people think it's weird, but I have no clue why..

I have a couple paler avocado/oilve greens for her room, plus a beautiful, classic, blue that is slightly on the light side and just seems to have the right tough of green and gray and I am completely torn! I haven't decided if I would paint the whole room in similar colours or just paint "the" wall and leave the rest as is, I'll have to work on that later though... I'm so terrible with picking a colour to commit to - I love it all!

The greens below seem really washed out in the brighter picture, but I just couldn't hold my camera strait enough when I was taking the other picture! The darker pink is the colour that is currently on Kayla's walls and the lighter pink is similar to her duvet cover. The print at the bottom is from Joel Dewberry's Ginseng collection and is one of a few that I'm considering putting on Kayla's wall.

Update

I have been majorly neglecting my blog! Recently I have been gardening, sewing dresses/tops for Kayla, and looking at paint colours. Oh, and I'm also finishing up my current course. I will be SO happy when it's over, I know there are more classes coming but I just don't want to do it anymore. I have too many other things going on.

Kayla LOVES our little container garden, we have two tomato plants, a few romaine lettuce plants, and some strawberry plants as well. Kayla has her own little flower which she loves, but by the time we got home from the store she had already picked off one of the two flowers it had. At the moment, it's not doing so good, but we're hopefull that she will see some more flowers from it. My tomatoes and lettuce are doing great, but so far the strawberries don't seem to be doing anything at all. Kayla asks either me or Paul, every single day, if she can go out and water the plants! She likes to water so much that I've asked her to just water the plants that are in the ground around our patio rather then our container garden!

Over the last weekend, I just happened to find a nice table and chair set that I liked on Craigslist (I was looking for a bookshelf!). We made our way over there to check it out and found out that the guy also had a couple other things we liked... we filled up the truck with a couple great pieces and I am so happy! I DO plan to re-cover the chairs (I'm not going to bother to take the current fabric off if I can avoid it), but it's going to take a long time before I find the right fabric AND Paul agrees with my choice! I already found a couple fabrics I liked on a website I often use but Paul didn't like ANY of them.

I've also been thinking about doing a bit of painting... once I finally finish those pictures I've had around forever and get them up on the wall (it's brown, the pictures are white with green), I have been thinking about colour blocking a square behind them. I can't decide between an aqua or teal vs a slightly lighter avocado green. I have found a couple greens that I am completely in love with, but they seem to blend a lot with our current wall colour and I don't really want that. I've also found a couple teals or blues that I am drawn to on their own, but on the wall they really pop, which is exactly what I want, they're just not my absolute complete favorite like the greens are...

Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Recent Projects

Here are just a few of my recent projects

This was my first purse, and I think this was also the first "big" project. I loved this purse, and I loved the fabric too! Unfortunately this purse is no longer....

Kayla wasn't being the best model this time, but I made a couple dresses using this pattern and different fabrics. I love the clean, simple lines, as well as the feminine but-not-too-girly bow.

This top was made using a Heidi and Finn pattern, ribbon, and an old skirt of mine. Kayla wouldn't stop twirling when I asked her to try it on!

This is my current purse - I LOVE IT.

I LOVE this dress, it was made from an old skirt of my moms, and I can't wait until it's warm enough for her to wear this.

My friend Amanda bought this purse from me, I was really happy with how it turned out. It's basically the same as my purse, using another fabulous Joel Dewberry fabric.

New Background

Can you tell by my new background that I am getting ready for summer?? Well, I am. Yes, I know we've just barely made it into spring, but I'm getting ready for summer. I've been dreaming about cold treats and neat looking summer-y water and juice recipes. I think it's almost time to get my summer pitchers out =D

School Sucks

I need to do more sewing.

....ok, I don't NEED to, of course, I want to! This picture is my most recent order that came in. Unfortunately, between working, parenting, enjoying time with my toddler, and school, I don't have a heck of a lot of time for sewing. One might think that with my husband on EI (in other words he is home everyday with tons of potential cleaning and cooking time) I would have plenty of extra time. However, he is still working on fulfilling his household duties, which leaves me very little time for anything other then fun with Kayla, and school... when I am not cleaning or working that is!

I'm actually hoping Paul will get accepted into his program really soon, I can't wait to once again come home after work to a house that has been completely un-touched since leaving it in the morning! Sigh... Oh to dream.
